  • Why is my toilet gurgling?

A gurgling toilet is usually a sign of a blockage in the sewer drain. When water cannot move properly through the pipes, trapped air creates bubbling or gurgling sounds. This can be caused by a partial blockage, tree roots, or larger sewer issue further down the line.

(Assuming you're in the Bendigo area and connected to the Mains)

    1.  Call Coliban Water 1300 363 200 to report a suspected blockage. "I think I have a blocked sewer." They'll ask you some routine questions and potentially send our their own person to investigate. If they recommend contacting a plumber - you may have potentially saved yourself from paying some of the bill if the plumber finds the issue was actually a coliban water issue (not in your property boundary).
    2. If you've been instructed to call a plumber, call our office (03) 5446 1535 to schedule a Drain Service Call.

Using a Septic System instead? Call us for recommendations on what to do. Depending on your situation, you might arrange a Drain Service Call with us, or be recommended to contact a company that empties septic tanks.

  • What is a Drain Service Call?

A Drain Service Call is a type of booking with it's own fee.

At Dunstone Bros Plumbing & Roofing there are 3 typical ways a work request starts...

    1. Site Visit to Quote, or

A Drain Service Call gets a plumber to site, up to 1 hour of labour, use of all drain maintenance equipment (e.g. CCTV Drain Camera, Pressure Jetting Machine, Drain Locator). After the first hour, further labour is quoted where possible, or charged at the regular hourly rate.

Drains Service Calls are commonly used for:

  • Why does my sink drain so slowly?

A slow draining sink is commonly caused by buildup inside your pipes. Bathroom basins often collect hair and soap residue. Kitchen sinks usually block due to grease or oil buildup, and food scraps.

Some things you can try at home if you feel comfortable to do so are: removing loose drain grates and cleaning
