- Working Monday to Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm. Clocking in remotely via your smartphone before arriving at the office to prepare for the day, or travelling directly to a job site when required.

- Taking initiative when a job finishes early by contacting the office for further work, outstanding tasks or assistance with quotes. Finishing a job ahead of schedule does not mean the working day is over.
- Checking with the office before making unplanned changes to your schedule, leaving a job or work area unexpectedly, or finishing early. We value trust, accountability and clear communication across the team.
- Following through on outstanding tasks and reviewing previous jobs for missed items or required follow-up, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.
2. Plumbing, roofing and technical problem-solving

- Carrying out roofing-related work, including investigating roof leaks, gutter and downpipe issues, and stormwater problems.
- Diagnosing plumbing issues by identifying their underlying causes rather than simply treating the symptoms, particularly with recurring leaks, blocked drains and drainage issues.
- Planning jobs effectively, assessing the required tools, materials and equipment, and identifying potential issues before work begins.
- Reading and interpreting relevant plans, technical information and installation requirements where necessary.
- Recognising when a job requires specialist assistance, additional equipment, another trade or approval from the office before proceeding.
- Identifying opportunities to recommend preventative maintenance or longer-term solutions where appropriate.
3. Supervising and supporting apprentices
- Providing guidance, practical instruction and support to apprentices, helping them develop their trade knowledge, skills and confidence.
- Demonstrating correct techniques, safe work practices and professional standards, rather than simply completing tasks on their behalf.
- Delegating suitable tasks according to an apprentice's experience, competency and level of training.
- Checking apprentices' work, providing constructive feedback and helping them learn from mistakes.
- Maintaining appropriate supervision and ensuring apprentices understand the job requirements, associated risks and when to ask for assistance.
- Encouraging apprentices to develop problem-solving skills, take responsibility for their work and maintain high standards of workmanship.
4. Quality control, testing and workmanship
- Inspecting completed work to ensure it is safe, functional, neat and compliant with applicable plumbing standards and requirements.
- Testing installations and repairs, checking for leaks or faults, and confirming the work is operating as intended before leaving the site.
- Ensuring all work is completed to a high standard, with attention to detail and pride in the finished result.
- Idetifying defects, incomplete work or potential issues and addressing them appropriately before considering a job complete.
- Ensuring work areas are left clean and tidy, and that customers' properties and belongings are treated with care and respect.
5. Customer service and communication
- Keeping customers informed throughout the job and providing professional, respectful service.
- Explaining technical issues, available options and recommended solutions in plain English so customers can make informed decisions and feel confident in the work being carried out.
- Communicating clearly with customers about the work completed, any limitations identified and any further work that may be required.
- Recognising additional issues or recommended works while on-site and proactively communicating these to the office so quotes can be prepared and follow-up jobs booked in for customers.
- Communicating unexpected issues, changes to the scope of work, delays or potential additional costs before proceeding where approval is required.
- Knowing when to manage a customer query independently and when to refer an issue to the office.
6. Job documentation and office collaboration
- Recording accurate job notes, materials used, photos, testing outcomes and follow-up requirements in our dispatch management app.
- Ensuring the office has the information needed to manage each job, prepare invoices, organise quotes and coordinate follow-up work.
- Communicating outstanding tasks, additional work identified and any issues requiring office attention promptly and clearly.
- Completing job records and assisting with quotes using our office computers when required.
- Collaborating with the office team to ensure customers receive timely updates and jobs are booked, quoted and completed efficiently.
- Ensuring job information is up to date and all outstanding tasks or follow-up requirements are communicated before finishing for the day.
7. Safety, compliance and professional responsibility
- Following applicable plumbing regulations, registration and licensing requirements, workplace health and safety obligations, and company procedures and policies.
- Identifying on-site hazards, assessing risks and following appropriate safe work procedures, including working-at-heights precautions when undertaking roofing work.
- Ensuring tools, equipment and work practices are appropriate for the task and that work is undertaken within your qualifications, competencies and authority.
- Supporting apprentices and other team members to follow safe work practices and use equipment correctly.
- Completing required testing, records and compliance documentation accurately.
- Promptly reporting hazards, incidents, near misses, damaged equipment or unsafe conditions.
8. Equipment, vehicles, stock and shared spaces
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised work vehicle, ensuring tools and materials are stored securely and are readily available.
- Maintaining and caring for company tools, equipment and stock, reporting damaged, faulty or missing items and identifying when supplies need replenishing.

- Helping maintain our shared yard and office spaces, contributing to a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Preparing materials, tools and equipment for the following day's jobs wherever possible.

- Taking responsibility for the quality, accuracy and completeness of your work from start to finish.

- Providing accurate information about labour, materials, variations and additional work to support quoting, invoicing and job costing.
- Making practical decisions that balance quality workmanship, customer needs, safety, time and business costs.
- Representing Dunstone Bros Plumbing & Roofing professionally at all times, recognising that your conduct and workmanship directly affect our reputation.
- Being open to occasional after-hours work when requested, subject to your availability, agreement and applicable employment conditions.
